Emery Waddell Promoted to General Partner

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Emery Waddell to General Partner, where he will continue to lead new investments and provide meaningful support to emerging B2B SaaS companies. Emery’s combination of financial and operating experience, rich set of industry relationships, and unwavering drive to help founders unlock value have been instrumental to the success of our portfolio companies and the firm to date.

Emery joined us nearly 10 years ago from VRA Partners, an Atlanta-based M&A advisory boutique, where he helped many hardworking founders achieve life-changing exits. In his time with Vocap, he has sourced, executed, and developed investments across three funds, institutionalized platform operations in areas such as sourcing and diligence, and deepened the firm’s ties in underserved regions such as the Southeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. He has served in numerous board and board observer roles including XOi, YourSix, Boostr, KetteQ, Vydia, Soundstripe, and AIO among others, representing well over 6x enterprise value creation since investment. Our founders have benefited immensely from his guidance and support in growth strategy, revenue operations, financial planning and analysis, AI-driven product strategy, fundraising, M&A, and corporate governance, among other areas.

Along the way, Emery has remained an enthusiastic contributor to the broader tech community and currently serves on the board of Venture Atlanta, one of the nation’s leading annual tech conferences which hosts nearly two thousand attendees each year. He is dedicated to fostering growth in the Atlanta and Southeast ecosystem by facilitating connections between capital, emerging companies, talent, and large corporations.

Consistent with Vocap’s operator ethos, Emery has also led various strategic initiatives inside our portfolio companies. His operational work has centered on collaborating across business functions to illuminate data-driven insights, codify growth strategies, develop detailed financial plans, successfully raise funds, and achieve optimal exits.

Over the years, Emery’s insights and advocacy have helped us stay true to the strategy that launched the firm well over a decade ago: think independently to the VC hype cycle, stay disciplined to the fundamentals that build great companies, prioritize quality over quantity to be of greater service to companies, and strive for win-win outcomes by preserving optionality at each stage on the way up. Our founders have appreciated and benefited from his consistent servant-leadership style, and we are excited to continue working alongside him in this next phase of his career with Vocap.

Please join us in congratulating Emery!
